who doesn't love Italian food? I was excited for the food we'd get to eat this week and i was definitely not disappointed.
Monday: Roasted Garlic & Tomato Soup (YUM!)

Orrecchiette w/ Pesto Sauce (left), and Trilli w/ Tomato Sauce (we made the pasta!)
Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce (we made the pasta again!)
Dry Spaghettini Aglio e Olio (means garlic and olive oil, and we didn't make the pasta)
Lobster Tortolloni
Fennel Salad with Fennel Vinaigrette
Pizette
Milk Braised Pork Shoulder with Spinach-Ricotta Gnocchi
Torta Romana (layers of poached italian sausage, swiss chard, blue and asiago cheese, and poached pears)
Lemon Souffle
Bocconcini Wrapped Chard w/ Herb Salad
Open-faced Lasagna with Bolgnese and Crab sauces
Italian Menu Development Day: Prosciutto-wrapped roast tomato stuffed w/ Bocconcini, and Zucchini-Sundred Tomato Pesto Pizza w/ Fried Capers
my little Tortolloni babies :)
Ricotta-Spinach-Walnut Tortolloni with Roasted Carrot Sauce
Roast chicken (leg-through-breast), Braised Fennel, Carrots Vichy, and Trilli w/ Sundried Tomato Pesto Sauce
Besides all that, i made a polenta dish at home that's sort of like a pizza dip cuz the base isn't solid, it's mushy. Pretty yummy though!
We also watched the last Bomber game of the season (booooooo) and yesterday I went on my first observation to a tennis club that was hosting a gala dinner for a national squash tournament...i know :P anyways, i was there for about 8 hours prepping things, plating things, garnishing things, cleaning things, deep frying things, it was pretty interesting. The people that work in the kitchen were really nice and really funny, and the time went by really quickly. That said, i don't think that kind of work is for me :S especially since they get paid a daily rate no matter how many hours they work (which is illegal, but a lot of kitchens do it). at the end of the night the chef gave us (i went with another student) all 6's out of 7 and said we really helped them out on a busy night :)
So today is my day off, and it's sunny out so i think i'll go for a walk :)
